A teenage girl has suffered a significant head injury after a car smashed into a tree at Gympie on Saturday night.

The girl was one of three people taken to the Gympie Hospital following the single-vehicle crash on Glastonbury Rd at 10.29pm.

Queensland Ambulance Service said a boy also sustained a shoulder injury and a woman in her 40s suffered chest pain.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said there were five people in the vehicle when it crashed and two of them were trapped.

Three patients were eventually transported to hospital in stable conditions.

The QPS spokeswoman said the driver was among those taken to hospital and as of Sunday morning, police were yet to speak with them.

The spokeswoman said the road was cleared and re-opened about 11.45pm on Saturday.

Police investigations are ongoing.

This latest crash comes after a teenage boy was fighting for his life after a vehicle rolled and hit a tree in the Gympie region.

Police say a red Mazda was travelling along Neusavale Rd about 10pm on Friday at Wolvi when it left the road and hit a tree.
