Thieves strike in Gympie, Chatsworth, Monkland, Araluen and Veteran

From a chainsaw to musical instruments, here’s what was taken from where and when in a spate of break and enters across the Gympie region.

Crime scene declared at Monkland home after suspicious blaze

Homes, cars, building sites, businesses and storage compounds have been targeted in a spate of burglaries across the Gympie region.

Two televisions, CCTV cameras, a laptop, watch, tool bag and tools were stolen after thieves broke into a house at Chatsworth in the early hours of March 7, 2022, police said this week.

A car was stolen from Hood Road at Veteran on March 16 when thieves found the keys inside the house after breaking in through a window. The car was later found but investigations are continuing.

In the Gympie industrial area of Dennis Little Drive, thieves broke into a construction office on March 14, stealing six large batteries.

They broke into a ute on Saleyard Road, Araluen, and stole tools, a fire extinguisher and first aid kit on March 14.

And on March 24, a house and multiple sheds on Queens Park Road were broken into and thousands of dollars worth of tools, whipper snippers, welder, musical instruments, chainsaw, speaker, hedge trimmer, knives and trailer box set stolen.

Police have encouraged homeowners, car owners and business owners to make sure of security, and to mark all materials, tools and machinery with the company or builder name, building site lot number and owners name to prove ownership.
