The reason why Rainbow Beach residents lost water supply

Numerous residents took to social media to report their water supply had been compromised, with one sharing communications from the council advising of a water interruption between 9.30am and 11.30am. But that would not be the only interruption for the morning.

The Gympie Regional Council has confirmed parts of Rainbow Beach’s water supply was affected for more than an hour after a fire hydrant sprung a leak in the coastal town on Tuesday morning.

The Gympie Regional Council has confirmed parts of Rainbow Beach’s water supply was affected for more than an hour after a fire hydrant sprung a leak in the coastal town on Tuesday morning.

Numerous residents took to social media to report their water supply had been compromised late on Tuesday morning (August 24), with one commentator sharing communications from the council advising of a water interruption between 9.30am and 11.30am.

The interruption was scheduled so the council could carry out water main repairs, according to the letter sent to affected residents.

A council spokesman would later confirm further interruptions had been caused by a leaking fire hydrant on Rainbow Beach Rd.
