A man’s Good Friday swim off the coast of Tin Can Bay has taken a turn for the worse after he had a nasty encounter with a sting ray.
A QAS spokeswoman said the man, of unknown age, took himself to the town’s ambulance station after he was stung by the marine creature shortly before 2pm.
No details have been released as to where the man was injured.
He was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition.
