GYMPIE’S Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles halfback Nick Swan has a foot injury and is in doubt for Saturday’s home match against Ipswich.
Swan hobbled through 80 minutes of Sunshine Coast’s nightmare loss to Mackay last Saturday, when the Sea Eagles led 22-0 before losing 24-22.
Sea Eagles coach Adam Mogg has named utility Callum Klein at halfback for the Ipswich clash, but Swan will play if he pulls up fit after Friday’s training session.
“He’s had a bit of a problem and was in doubt last weekend, but he played,” Mogg said.
“There’s a couple of guys with some bumps who we’re looking at but won’t know if they’ll play until Saturday.”
Mogg has named Matt Chapman at hooker and Gerard Tibbets on the bench, but they will make way for other players depending on the results of fitness tests.
Mogg said the team had done some theory work at training after last weekend’s capitulation, which left the struggling side winless after 13 rounds.
“Nothing has changed too much. We’re just trying to improve,” he said.
“We had a light session and did a bit of theory with certain players in certain positions.
“We’re doing a session at Beerwah this week, but not too much will change.”
The Sea Eagles will wear pink and purple socks this weekend in support of the Grace and Jessica Road Smart Day.
Front-row hard man Marty Cordwell will dye the team’s socks today.
