A new family-owned cafe in the heart of Tin Can Bay is promising to mix Australian cuisine with a touch of Italian.
The brand-new eatery, a seafood cafe opening in the heart of Tin Can Bay, will be owned by married couple Noemi Carta and Eddie Steven Walter when they open for business in the next few months.
The couple will be highlighting Australian cuisine with their menu items, but also plan to include Italian sweets as Noemi’s family have Italian roots.
“If everything goes as planned, we will be more than happy to open once a week at night time and propose an Italian dinner,” Noemi said.
The couple recently purchased the commercial lot at 2 Gympie Rd and moved their family to Tin Can Bay to pursue their dreams of running their own business.
Noemi said they loved the lifestyle the area offered, and hoped to connect with locals and tourists through their food.
“We really hope that our small cafe will be able to reach everyone’s hearts,” she said.
“Not only with food and coffee, but through our lifestyle.
“We are really sunny and happy people and we like to talk - too much sometimes - [and] we hope that people take our cafe as a place to go to relax, and be able to exchange a few words with someone.
“We have big plans for our business and we hope that locals will support us.”
The couple plans to support the local economy by sourcing ingredients from local butchers, greengrocers, and fishermen, and while they don’t have an official opening date set in stone just yet, they are well on their way to running their dream business.
“We unfortunately still don’t know the date of the opening, as we are waiting for council to give us the ‘okay’,” Noemi said.
Works on the commercial space have been underway since purchase, so the pair should be able to open the moment the Gympie council approves their business operation application.
