A man in his 70s was taken to Gympie Hospital on Tuesday afternoon with possible hypothermia after a boating incident at Lake Borumba.
Emergency crews, including a swift water rescue unit, were called to the popular Mary Valley lake about 40km south of Gympie shortly after 12.20pm amid reports a tinnie had flipped in choppy water near the dam wall.
Police said the man was found safely inside the boat and towed back to shore.
It is believed he was in the water for an unknown period, possibly from as early as 10.30am, before clambering back into the vessel.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman said the man was in a stable condition.
