Rescue chopper called after man crushed by tractor in Kandanga

The Lifeflight rescue helicopter has been called to Kandanga after a man, injured when his trctor rolled over and crushed him, breaking his ribs and pelvis, then rode the same tractor to a neighboru’s property for help.

A farmer who has broken his ribs and pelvis when his tractor rolled over at a Kandanga farm has extraordinarily managed to free himself from the wreck and drive to a neighbouring property for help.

A Lifeflight spokeswoman said the Kandanga man, in his 40s, was working on his property early Thursday morning when the vehicle rolled, first throwing him from the seat and then driving over legs and abdomen.

Despite the injuries, the man was able to climb back into the tractor’s seat and drive to a neighbour’s home for help.

The Lifeflight helicopter was called to Kandanga following the incident, in which the man broke multiple bones.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesman said the man suffered injuries to his chest, abdomen and shoulder.

Emergency services were then called to the property, off Main St, about 8.30am.

He was then flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
