QAS said one patient was stable, but the other was in a much more serious condition.

“One stable patient with lower back pain, a head injury and hand injury was transported in a serious but stable condition to Noosa Hospital,” they said.

“One patient in a critical condition with a significant head injury was initially transported to Gympie Hospital and has been airlifted by helicopter from Gympie Hospital to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.”

The incident follows another in the region on Thursday where a woman in her 80s had to be flown to hospital on the Sunshine Coast with serious leg injuries after being trapped in a crashed vehicle on the Bruce Highway near Goomeri.

The woman was travelling with two others in a four-wheel drive ute about 3.11pm when the vehicle rolled near Coleman Siding Rd between Kinbombi and Cinnabar.
