QFES fight fire as caravan burns to ground at Inskip Point

A trip to the Cooloola Coast has ended horribly for campers after their caravan caught alight at a popular tourist spot.

An Inskip Point camping trip has come to a shocking end for holiday-makers after their caravan burnt to the ground.

Firefighters were called to the Inskip Ave campsite at 1pm, and arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed by flames.

A QFES spokesman said crews had extinguished the fire 30 minutes later and were still onsite damping down hot spots.

A QAS spokeswoman said no-one was injured in the incident.

The Bureau of Meteorology and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services warned residents in South East Queensland about increased fire dangers on Wednesday.

A local fire ban has been declared across several regions and the bureau issued an extreme fire danger warning for the Southeast Coast, with strong winds and high temperatures.
