A 21-year-old woman has been sentenced for 28 charges, some of which stem from a high-speed smash into a business on the Bruce Highway.

Gympie Magistrates Court heard Tamsyn Brooke Lindsay was celebrating her birthday and high on meth when she evaded police on the evening of August 3, 2021.

Lindsay was driving 100km above the speed limit in a 60km/hr zone down the Bruce Highway, the court heard.

She was speeding between a service station and Gympie McDonald’s before colliding into the bollards of Gympie Mazda while attempting to turn and smashing into other vehicles.

She was disqualified from driving at the time, the court heard.

Lindsay had a passenger besides her who wanted no part of her actions during the incident, Sergeant Michael Phillips said.

Other members of the community flagged down police.

“It was very lucky no-one was killed,” Acting Magistrate Raelene Ellis said.
