No charges have been laid against a man who was taken into custody following a four-hour standoff at Pie Creek on Wednesday which required the help of dozens of officers and PolAir.
Police and a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman have confirmed the man, in his 50s, was taken to Gympie Hospital for further treatment and assessment following the incident which was reported as mental health-related.
Investigations are ongoing.
Police were first called to an address at Curtain Rd, 10km outside Gympie, about 9.20am Wednesday.
They declared the matter under the Public Safety Preservation Act shortly after, blocking off streets surrounding the area including Long Rd, Herron Rd, Eel Creek Rd, Blue Gum Rd, and Marys Creek St.
Police said they were unable to confirm whether the man had been armed during the standoff.
Several nearby residents said they had been left in confusion as events unfolded.

“I just don’t know what to do,” Mrs Adams said.
The matter finally resolved about 1.45pm with police taking the man into custody and revoking the PSPA.
