A 42-year-old Fraser Coast man says he “just wants to go to jail” after he and a woman were arrested over a string of robberies including the carjacking of a woman at a Bruce Highway service station.
Michael Gordon Thompson, from Urraween at the Fraser Coast, did not appear in person at Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday for the first mention of the 43 charges laid against the Urraween man.
Police alleged in a statement Monday that Mr Thompson and a 22-year-old woman, Tocana Mai Jamieson, had carried out their spree over a week in February.
Mr Thompson and Ms Jamieson were first alleged to have assaulted a 47-year-old woman and stolen her white 2010 Kia Cerato at a Glenwood service station on the Bruce Hwy on the night of Thursday, February 20, shortly after midnight.
The woman suffered minor injuries in the alleged assault, police said.
Several days later, on Wednesday February 26, the pair allegedly forced entry into a property on Pagan Rd at Yatala.
They alleged stole a white 2021 Isuzu MU-X, a white 2019 Hyundai Tucson, and Jayco Silverline Caravan.
Electrical equipment and jewellery were allegedly stolen as well.
Mr Thompson and Ms Jamieson were arrested by police on Friday February 28 at the Victory Heights service station and shop.
Police have alleged a firearm was found inside the vehicle, and they said further investigations into possible weapons offences were ongoing.
Mr Thompson did not enter a plea to the charges against him on Monday.
These include eight counts of unlawfully using a motor vehicle, seven counts of stealing, five counts of fraud, two counts of robbery with violence and one of robbery, two counts of break-and-enter and one of attempted break-and-enter, four counts of driving with a disqualified licence, three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, three counts of receiving tainted property, common assault (a domestic violence offence), enter premises, evading police, serious assault of police, possessing S4 medicines, possessing used drug utensils, and bringing stolen items into Queensland.

Duty lawyer Chris Anderson told the court Mr Thompson, who was on remand in custody at the Gympie watch house, would not apply for bail and was on a return to prison warrant.
“He instructs me he just wants go to jail,” Mr Anderson told the court.
The 42-year-old wanted to appear in person at the mention but safety concerns and technical issues prevented it.
Ms Jamieson, who had her matters briefly mentioned and adjourned on Saturday, has been charged with armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
She is scheduled to appear at Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday April 14.
