A convicted sex offender and rapist who travelled from Gympie to Brisbane with one of his 15-year-old victims is to be released from jail under strict supervision rules.
Kristopher Richard Joseph Moxham, 36, was jailed in April 2015 after pleading guilty in Brisbane District Court to one count of carnal knowledge of a child under 16, one count of rape, two counts of threatening violence and one count of breaching bail.
These crimes were committed across two separate incidents, Supreme Court documents reveal.
The documents state Moxham met his victim on Facebook when he added her as a friend.
A few months after he met her online he asked her to go away with him.
When she agreed he bought train tickets from Gympie to Brisbane, where they purchased a tent and set up camp at Spring Hill.
Her parents listed her as a missing person and following a police interview, Moxham was arrested for unlawful carnal knowledge.
He was then released on bail, and in February 2014 he raped another 15-year-old girl at knifepoint after he met her and her male friend in Brisbane.
He was jailed for eight years.
Moxham was released on parole in September 2019, following his participation in several rehabilitation programs, the documents say, but he was returned to jail in July 2020 after it was discovered he was not living at his approved residence, had failed to notify authorities and failed to report on two separate occasions.
Multiple psychiatric reports in 2021 and 2022 identified Moxham as an “above average risk” of sexual recidivism, and this would be lowered through a five-year supervision order.
Moxham will be released on October 29, 2022, after which he will be subject to strict reporting and supervision requirements.
These include a ban on consuming or possessing alcohol or drugs, contact with anyone under the age of 16 without written permission from a corrective services officer, and telling authorities when any personal relationship starts.
