Gympie man charged with rape, indecent treatment
A video game enthusiast has faced Gympie court on multiple sexual offence charges against two pre-pubescent girls, including rape and attempted rape.

A 29-year-old Gympie gaming enthusiast faced Gympie District Court on Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing on charges of sexual offences against two pre-pubescent girls.
The man is accused accused of six counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 twice, attempted rape, and rape.
Both victims were allegedly touched inappropriately while they played video games with him.
One girl, aged 11-12, accused him of rape “while she was repeatedly telling him to stop”, District Court Judge Brad Farr said.
The rape allegedly occurred sometime between September 17, 2021 and October 5, 2021.
The other girl, aged 9-13, said the man touched her breasts.
At a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, April 23, defence lawyer Amanda Bain submitted that the two cases were sufficiently “different in terms of nature and seriousness” such that presenting them together in front of the jury would carry a “significant risk of prejudice”.

The crown said that the allegations were similar in terms of the age of the victims and that they both occurred while the defendant played video games with the girls.
Judge Farr allowed the defendant’s application.
