A 36-year-old man has been charged with drink driving after slamming into a power pole near a Gympie fish and chip shop while allegedly more than three times the legal limit.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with drink driving after slamming into a power pole at Chapple St while allegedly more than three times the legal limit.
Emergency crews were called to the crash at Chapple St, near the intersection with Ray St and next to Fisherman’s Haul and the Mary Valley Rattler, about 7.30pm Friday, September 8.
Police allege the man, from nearby Veteran, had left a nearby pub shortly before crashing the Mazda into the pole.
They said in a media release Monday a breath test returned a reading of .173.
No injuries have been reported from the crash.

He has been charged with driving under the influence and is scheduled to appear at Gympie Magistrates Court on October 5.

No charges have been laid over the crash, and police investigations are continuing.
