Gympie CBD stabbing leaves one man in hospital

A tyre fitter has recounted the moment he came across a “pool of blood” outside his workplace on Monday morning, following a reported stabbing in Gympie’s CBD on Sunday night.
Bridgestone Service Centre employee Izaac Briggs said he arrived at work at 7.50am on Monday morning to find his co-worker cleaning up the mess.
“I only saw a little bit but … definitely looked like there was heaps, though,” he said.
It comes hours after a young man was taken to Gympie Hospital after he was reportedly stabbed in the back during a fight in the Gympie CBD overnight on Sunday night.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said emergency services were called to the scene at the corner of Monkland St and Reef St at 6.26pm on Sunday.
A man in his 20s was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition with a stab wound to his back.
A Queensland Police spokesperson said the stabbing was reportedly as a result of a fight between two groups of people.
No complaint was made after the reported assault, however, and nobody was charged over the incident.
