A Gympie teenager who flipped her car at high speed while she had drugs in her system has been convicted of four offences.

A Gympie teenager who flipped her car at 120km/hour on the Southside has pleaded guilty and been convicted of four offences, including driving without due care and attention.

Felicity Lucy Wendy Gallaher, 19, faced Gympie Magistrates Court on Tuesday for driving while she had drugs in her system along Power Road without due care on February 5, 2023, contravening a police order on April 26, 2023, failing without a reason to appear at Gympie police station to provide details on May 4, 2023.

Police prosecutor Alison Johnstone said Gallaher breached a police order when officers tried to stop her from driving on April 26, 2023.

“She crashed her vehicle after driving 100-120km/h in a suburban area in Power Road Southside of Gympie,” Sergeant Johnstone said.

“She drove too wide in a corner.”

Gallaher was 18 years old when she committed these offences but is 19 now.

“Gallaher said she could not recall her mobile pin number when asked by officers after she failed to appear at the Gympie police station,” Sgt Johnstone said.

The court heard Gallaher went to the end of Year 10 at high school, and had a turbulent life growing up in an abusive family, exposed to violence and drug use.

Her defence lawyer said Gallaher intended to change her life and was interested in working as a traffic controller but had trust issues.

Gallaher was sentenced to three months jail, suspended for 12 months. She was also fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.
