Estephanous Barnaba Isaiah in court for failing to appear

A Gympie region electrician and son of a priest facing a string of charges has been given a short leash due to his inability to obey court orders.

A serial bail breacher has been given a last chance at freedom after failing to appear in court on string of stealing and drugs charges.

Estephanous Barnaba Isaiah pleaded guilty to failing to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court on July 12, 2022.

The self-employed electrician appeared at Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday in custody, having been arrested on June 30.

Lawyer Jamiee Burns told the court her 33-year-old client would stay with his father, a priest, and his mother who works as nurse upon release.

Mr Isaiah’s father and brother supported him in the public gallery.

Mr Isaiah was using meth until about a week and had sought drug counselling, Ms Burns said.

Police prosecutor Vicki Kennedy-Grills told the court Mr Isaiah allegedly avoided police and hid his co-offender from authorities.

He has been charged with possession of suspected stolen property, possessing drugs, receiving tainted property, breaking into a house and committing a indictable offence, unauthorised dealing with shop goods, and failing to appear in court.

Isaiah allegedly breached his bail three times, Magistrate Chris Callaghan told the court.

He was released on bail this time under the condition he does not contact his co-offender.

Mr Callaghan warned Mr Isaiah he would not be granted bail again if he breached the conditions again.

His matter was adjourned to October 31, 2022.
