A convicted drug offender with a “significant and persistent” history has landed back in jail after a string of further crimes including being caught with a clip seal bag of meth and hiding a used syringe down his pants.

Adam James Towle-McCully, 29, appeared by videolink on Tuesday to face the latest charges, which Gympie Magistrates Court heard happened across Gympie and the Sunshine Coast.

These included drug driving at Tewantin in November 2023, breaching bail at Maroochydore and Noosa on occasions stretching from November 2023 to January 2024, and possessing meth and a syringe at Gympie in March 2024.

The court heard the Tewantin man breached bail by failing to tell authorities he was no longer residing at a rehab centre, failing to report to police, and possessing 2.65g of methamphetamine for his own use.

Police prosecutor Allison Johnstone told the court Towle-McCully simply “forgot” the syringe was in his pants.

Towle-McCully pleaded guilty to four counts of breaching bail, and one count each of drug driving, possessing dangerous drugs, and failing to appropriately dispose of a used syringe.

Acting Magistrate Anna Smith sentenced him to six months’ jail, and disqualified him from driving for three months.

He will be released on parole on November 22, 2024.
