The owners of a block of Southside land near Groundwater Rd already approved for subdivision have asked Gympie Regional Council for permission to carve it up in a slightly different manner.
Pam and Donald Pitt have lodged plans with Gympie Regional Council asking for permission to slice their 3.6ha Heritage Lane block into 21 pieces, three less than had been approved for the block in 2009.
The proposed development would sit behind houses already fronting Groundwater Rd.
It would be bordered on the northeast by Langara Dr.
The development would be separated from homes on Fortune Ct by another 10-block subdivision.
A 24-lot subdivision had previously been approved at the block.
Langara Rd will be joined to Heritage Lane to facilitate the development if it is approved, with a small cul-de-sac built behind the Groundwater Rd homes.
Block sizes will range from 730m sq to 2742m sq with many of the larger lot backing on to flood prone land, and the full development will be built in two stages.
The application says this will ensure the flood zones are shared across several lots instead of the burden being borne by one homeowner.
The Pitts’ proposal adds to a growing list of subdivision proposals on land west of the Mary River, which includes a proposed 26-lot subdivision at Copp Rd and a 34-block proposal off Lichtsner and Glastonbury roads.
