More housing could soon be on the market at the Southside with a new 26-block subdivision proposed west of the Mary River.
Land owners Timothy and Susan Topalov have lodged plans for the development with Gympie Regional Council, asking for the project to be approved under a superseded planning scheme.
State legislation gives developers six months to make an applications under previous schemes if they are changed by a council.
The proposed development, if approved, would split two blocks of land bound by Copp and Pritchard Roads into 26 new lots.
A new cul-de-sac will be built in the middle of the 3.96ha development, which includes two battleaxe blocks.
Land sizes under the proposal range from 602m sq to 1730m sq.
A pond reserve is planned on the northeast side of the development along Pritchard Rd.
CoreLogic real estate data reveals one of the blocks has been owned by the Topalovs since 1994, the other since 2006.
