Petbarn, which boasts more than 150 Petbarn and City Farmers stores across the country, has lodged plans with the region’s council to build and open its outlet in the Bunworth Park industrial hub at Monkland.

The outlet would be established on a vacant block on Edwin Campion Dr next to the long time home of Autobarn, which is itself constructing a new showroom warehouse in the park near its Brisbane Rd entrance.

EPO Developments said in their application it would be the “first Petbarn within the Gympie local government area”.

Development of the park has unfolded across more than a decade, with the hub now home to major retailers including Chemist Warehouse, Harvey Norman, and BCF.

In the second application, Beli Developments wants to construct a new showroom and warehouse on one of two vacant blocks between the original Autobarn site and Harvey Norman.

The building will become home to Country Care Group, a disability equipment supplier with more than 80 outlets across Australia.

Beli Developments is behind the third application lodged with the council, too.

It wants to build another showroom opposite the site occupied by Harvey Norman and Chemist Warehouse.

They have not identified any proposed tenant for the new building.

The three applications were lodged in November, three months after Spotlight unveiled its plans to open its first Gympie shop in the industrial estate.

All of the applications, including Spotlight’s, are still under consideration by the council’s planning department.
