Kilkivan and Goomeri police are conducting proactive patrols to combat illegal hunting in the area.
A statement released on Monday morning said illegal hunting could often be associated with weapons and trespassing offences.
Goomeri Police Station Officer in Charge Phillip Kolera said police were taking the matter seriously.
“Police are and will continue to actively patrol the area to proactively detect illegal hunting and trespass offences,” Acting Sergeant Kolera said.
“Being charged could result in a court appearance and loss of your firearms licence.
“Offences are often relevant in these situations include trespass, discharge of weapon on private land without owner’s consent prohibited, and particular conduct involving a weapon in a public place prohibited.
“Don’t be comforted by the fact that you’re on a rural property. We will investigate all reports of criminal behaviour.”
Police have already been called to reports of people shooting into a private property from the road in Kinbombi with a rifle on January 19.
Investigations are ongoing.
