Million dollar house sales reveal Gympie’s red hot property market

New records in real estate continue to be set in red hot suburbs of the Gympie region, with house price increases in Pie Creek and The Palms out-pacing anything else in Queensland last quarter.

The Gympie region's property market continues to cook at a blistering rate.

CoreLogic records reveal that as of March 2022 the median house price in Gympie city was $464,232, up 10.4 per cent across on the previous quarter.

This new median also represented a 39 per cent increase across the past year and 68.2 per cent in the past two years.

At Pie Creek, about 8km southwest of the city, the median value was $745,645 and at The Palms, west of the city, it was $655,950 in March.

These two suburbs each experienced a 12.5 per cent jump in values in the December-February quarter, the highest increase in house values across the state in that period.

Below are the five biggest sales of the past two months as reported on CoreLogic’s RP Data online property hub (all prices awaiting settlement).

571 Counter Rd, Wolvi, $1.4m

This three-bedroom, one bathroom property with an indoor spa on 40ha has attracted the highest disclosed price tag in the region in the past two months (April and May).

CoreLogic records show it was on the market for 42 days before being snapped up by its new owners.

It was the fifth time the house has been sold in its 47-year history.

Standing on 12ha this five-bedroom, two-bathroom home was snapped up in March after a mere six days on the open market.

CoreLogic reports it was the first time the 20-year-old home had been put on the market.

198 Cunningham Rd, Goomboorian, $1.2m

Built in 2004 on 12ha of land northeast of Gympie, this four-bedroom, two-bathroom home lasted for 43 days on the market.

It was the sixth time it had changed ownership, with the expected new price more than double what it sold for in 2017.

25 Sweeney Court, Pie Creek, $1.2m

This 12-year-old five bedroom, two bathroom home on 0.6ha spent 18 days on the market before changing owners.

It was the first time the property had been sold since the house was built in 2010, with the land having changed owners twice beforehand.

21 Samantha Drive, Pie Creek $980,000

Built on 4.35ha, this five-year-old, four bedroom home with a five-bay shed claimed the fifth richest disclosed sale price over the past two months in the Gympie region.

It spent 80 days on the market before being moved for the second time in its history.
