A 21-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after being wedged between two vehicles at the Hy-Tec Concrete and Aggregates quarry in Scotchy Pocket, north of Gympie.
Emergency services were called to the Lindleys Lane worksite about 5km north of Curra at 8am Tuesday, August 16, following reports of the accident.
Paramedics kept the patient stable until the LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter, called from nearby Maroochydore, landed at the quarry and took the man to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The man suffered pelvic and abdominal injuries in the accident.
Trucks were left queued at the entrance to the quarry while emergency crews treated the man.
A Hy-Tec spokesman declined to comment about the incident.
It was the second serious incident for emergency crews in Gympie on Tuesday, with house in the city gutted by a fire only three hours earlier.
