‘Little rednecks’: Internet melts down over mum’s shocking Double Island Point post

A mother’s Facebook post of her young son apparently doing his “first donuts’ in a 4WD at Double Island Point has sent the internet into meltdown.

The Rainbow Beach and Double Island Point communities have been left outraged after photos and video footage appearing to show children doing their “first donuts” on the beach emerged online.

A Facebook post appearing to be published by a mother and shared on social media showed photos and video depicting her son behind the wheel of a four-wheel drive on the beach.

The post, since deleted, was captioned “Kids did there (sic) first ever donuts on the beach today in Larry. Little rednecks!!”

The post immediately attracted widespread criticism on social media, with various commentators encouraging the information to be shared with both police and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.

The woman later appeared to defend her actions online, saying there were “no donuts even though I said it” and the child was actually driving for five minutes doing “about 20km”.

She described the incident as a “U Turn”, going on to say she had been the victim of abuse since posting the original footage.

The woman has been contacted for further comment, while the Queensland Police Service has also been contacted for comment.
