A person has been rescued from a malfunctioning lift at a Gympie school.

Firefighters were called to the Flexible Learning Centre at the corner of Bowen Lane and Everson Rd just before midday on Wednesday, with initial reports saying two people were trapped inside a lift.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesperson said one crew was on scene for half an hour, where they worked alongside a technician to lower the lift to the ground floor.

There, the doors were released and the person was freed.

They could not confirm an age or gender for the person trapped.

The person was unharmed during the rescue.
