Letter to the Editor
Cynical, belligerent or just plain stupidity, words I’m trying to decide to describe the statements by State Main Roads Minister, Bailey.
Most of the public is ignorant of just how funding for our roads is provided.
As Llew O’Brien pointed out, the states design and build the roads but the Commonwealth is expected to cough up 80 percent of the total cost.
Therefore, it is patently clear that the ball is firmly in Bailey’s court to decide if a four lane bypass is going to be built around Tiaro.

Common sense dictates that is what should happen but the belligerent attitude of State Labor is clearly getting in the way again.
For Bailey to state that the Federal Budget should contain funding for a four lane bypass when in fact no plans for a four lane bypass have been submitted by the State is cynicism at its height.
Once again Labor plays to the electorate’s ignorance of arrangements between the various forms of government.
