Inside Exercise Archibald, Australian Army Police training in Wide Bay

The Australian Army Military Police plans to conduct a training session named Exercise Archibald at Camp Kerr in the Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach areas from October 20-24.

The 1st Military Police Battalion’s Specialist Close Protection Unit will utilise weapons with blank ammunition when it carries out a number of planned and controlled blank fire activities around specific venues and public spaces.

A media statement from the ADF Regional Manager of Public Affairs for South Queensland said the training was essential for the Australian Defence Force to maintain its world class capabilities and build a “potent, capable, and agile future force to better meet and respond to future challenges related to the defence of Australia and it’s national interests”.

Residents near Camp Kerr have been notified in advance of the planned blank fire activity timings and locations through public notices and letterbox drop-offs, and the training is expected to take place between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
