Imbil could soon have some supermarket competition with plans unveiled for a new shop directly opposite the Friendly Grocer.
Developer Kingshill Pty Ltd has lodged an application to build the 818m sq supermarket and two other shops on a vacant block near the corner of Yabba Rd and Elizabeth St.
The supermarket is proposed to be joined by a smaller 100m sq store, possibly a bottle shop, and a 230m sq shop or food outlet.
The centre is planned to be built in two stages if approved.
The supermarket and bottle shop would be constructed first.
Thirty-nine parking spaces will be provided for customers.
Kingshill’s proposal is not the first development plan unveiled for the block.
In 2020, the council approved plans to build a bakery, three shops and restaurant on the block.
Fredsville Investments, which lodged the previous application, bought the block for $180,000 in 2017 according to Corelogic’s RP data records.
It is the second retail proposal revealed for Imbil in the past month, joined by plans to construct two small restaurants a few blocks to the east.
