Gympie and Maryborough voters eager to get the election over with early will get the chance starting from next week with pre-poll booths set to open. Here are the times and locations.

Election day may still be more than two weeks away but Wide Bay voters are getting the chance to get in early with pre-poll booths opening from next Monday.
Early voting booths will be open from 8am across Gympie, Maryborough and surrounds with a significant proportion of the electorate expected to avoid waiting until May 21 to have their say.
Almost one third of the Wide Bay’s voters cast their ballot before election day in 2019, according to Australian Electoral Commission records.
In total, 32,686 of the Wide Bay’s 107,516 registered voters pre-polled at the last federal election.
The number of enrolled voters has grown by more than 7000 in the three years since.
It is estimated more than 17,000 people will pre-poll at Gympie this election and more than 16,000 at Noosa.
Gympie’s and Noosaville’s pre-poll booths each had more had more 12,000 voters pass through before election day.
Those choosing to get in early in 2022 will again have options in each of the Wide Bay’s major population areas.
Pre-polling booths will open on Monday at 23 Tozer St in Gympie, the Maryborough Pensioners’ Association at 84 Adelaide St in Maryborough, the Noosa Baptist Church Hall at 1 Lake Weyba Dr, Noosaville and the Coolum – Peregian RSL Sub Branch at 1906 David Low Way at Coolum Beach.
Booths will be open from 8am to 8pm at Gympie, Maryborough and Noosaville during the first week of pre-polling.
Coolum Beach’s pre-poll booth will be open from 8.30am to 5.30pm in that first week.
This year’s election Wide Bay election field boasts 10 candidates, with the LNP’s incumbent Llew O’Brien favoured heavily by gambling houses to hold the seat.
Labor’s Geoff Williams is second, followed by Independent candidates Tim Jerome and Kelli Jacobi.
The United Australia Party’s Tracy Bennett, One Nation’s Nathan Buckley, the Greens’ Craig Armstrong, Informed Medical Options Party’s Andrea Newland, Australian Values Party’s Daniel Williams and Australian Federation Party’s John Woodward are the others in the race.
The Gympie Times and Fraser Coast Chronicle will be running an exit poll as part of their coverage of the first day of pre-polling, which will allow first glimpse at who is likely to win the Wide Bay seat.
