Australia's Court System

A number of people will front Gympie Magistrates Court this month charged with drink driving.

The most serious charge is against a Carina Heights man who was tested after being found by police asleep in a ute parked in the driveway of a business on Inglewood Road at the Monkland.

Police said they responded to reports of a Hilux ute swerving all over the Bruce Highway and crossing double white lines on the afternoon of March 27, 2022.

Police say the driver, a 57-year-old Carina Heights man, appeared to be asleep in the driver’s seat of the ute with the keys in the ignition. When tested, he blew 0.197 per cent, they say. He will front court on April 21.

A number of other drivers were also busted over the limit in and around Gympie. A 65-year-old Cooloola Cove motorcyclist allegedly blew 0.06 per cent after being stopped for a RBT on Channon Street just before midnight on March 5. He will face court on April 7.

A 35-year-old Gympie woman blew 0.089 per cent on April 7, after being stopped for an RBT on Excelsior Road. She will also face court on April 7.

A 59-year-old Gympie man will face court on April 21 after a motorcycle rider on Exhibition Road on the Southside was stopped for an RBT on March 31, later allegedly blowing 0.087 per cent.

And a 23-year-old man from South Nananga will face the Gympie court on April 21 after he was stopped for an RBT on Brisbane Road in Gympie and allegedly blew 0.077 per cent.
