Gympie Covid: Case locations by suburb

Queensland Health has revealed the worst Covid affected suburbs across Gympie as case numbers continue to climb, now sitting above 100. Read the breakdown by suburb here:

Queensland urges positive rapid cases not to get PCR tests

The northern half of Gympie city has been revealed as the area most affected by the region’s Covid outbreak which has grown to 144 cases.

Queensland Health data reveals the Gympie North statistical area, which stretches from Glanmire to near Chatsworth on the north side of the Mary River, has recorded 36 cases since the borders opened on December 17.

Gympie South, which encompasses the Southside, has recorded 25 cases.

The Gympie region, which covers everything outside Gympie city except the Cooloola Coast and Kilkivan including the Mary Valley, has had 33 confirmed Covid cases recorded.

Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach have reported a combined 14 cases, while out west, only five cases have been confirmed so far within the Kilkivan area (which included Goomeri).

Queensland Health data had not been updated to include the 40 new cases identified overnight at time of publication.

The region’s double vaccination rate was at 83 per cent as of Thursday, sitting in the bottom half of the council areas for which the data is collected.

Eighty-eight per cent of the region’s eligible population have had at least one shot of a Covid vaccine.

There was only one confirmed exposure site, the Little Parliament Cafe at Rainbow Beach, released by the State Government before it scaled back contact tracing on its web page to only include major outbreaks and potential super-spreading events.

The exposure happened more than two weeks ago on December 20.
