Gympie’s health care services are getting a shot in the arm with a new medical centre given approval to be built not far from one of the city’s major shopping centres.

Developers have been given the grren light to build a new health centre near Gympie Central Shooping Centre.

Gympie Regional Council’s planning department approved developer Balpese Pty Ltd’s plan to build the centre at the corner of Excelsior Rd and Stanley St, less than 200m from the shopping centre.

The land was previously home to a low-set timber home; it was removed from the block several weeks ago.

The new centre will include a reception area, waiting room, bathrooms, a staff kitchen and several consultation rooms.

The centre will be built at the corner of Excelsior Rd and Stanley St.

Twenty-six parking spaces will be provided including an ambulance bay.

Construction of the centre is expected to cost more than $193,903 according to figures provided by consulting firm Ingeniir and outlined in the council’s approval notice.

Balpese has until December 2027 to build the centre or its approval will expire.
