Five of the region’s parks will have their wastewater and sewerage systems upgraded as part of Gympie Regional Council’s “back to basics” plan, and it is hoping to snag a bargain in the process.
Kandanga’s Kann Park, Carter’s Ridge’s Mary Fereday Park, Widgee’s Marg McIntosh Park, Southside’s Attie Sullivan Park and Amamoor’s Recreation Grounds and Lions Park are among the locations to be improved as part of a wider tender being sought by Gympie Regional Council.
Long Flat Hall and the Curra Country Club round out the list of seven sites to be fixed.
But although the projects have been budgeted for individually, council Asset Manager Gordon Magann declined to comment on what that expected bill would be.
“As this is a competitive tender process, council is seeking the best value for money,” Mr Magann said.
“While council has budgeted for these works it is hopeful that the works can be completed at a more competitive price, without compromising a quality outcome.”
The works will include connecting buildings to the wastewater network, upgrading septic and installing new fences.
Mr Magann said the work was expected to be finished by the middle of 2022 if the weather co-operated.
