The Gympie Regional Council has announced more than $500,000 in black spot funding to upgrade Sandy Creek Road at Langley Road, a road crash hotspot in the past.
The council confirmed the funding in a Facebook post this week, with a hat-tip to Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien among other Federal Government figures.
“A big thank you to Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O‘Brien, The Hon Scott Buchholz, Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and the Federal Government for the $513,000 in funding to upgrade Sandy Creek Road at Langley Road, as part of Council’s Blackspot Funding Application,” the council said in a statement.
“Unfortunately there have been a number of crashes at this location in the past.
“To make the road safer council will widen it, install guideposts, re-seal it, improve the skid resistance and install road barriers.”
