The impact of the soon to open Gympie Bypass continues to be felt with the Gympie Motor Group unveiled plans to shift from its home north of the city to a new dealership near the $1 billion project.
Developer Notlih Investments is seeking approval from Gympie Regional Council to open a new showroom at Kelly Dr, with the building proposed to become the new offices for the Ford dealership.
The dealership has been operating from offices at the intersection of Oak St and the Bruce Hwy for years.
The 2.178ha Kelly Dr site sits at the road’s intersection with Buckley Rd.
It is one block away from Gympie Mazda, which itself moved to Glanmire from the city centre to be closer to the new Bruce Hwy route.
Notlih Investments bought the land from Allen-Co Holdings in July 2021 for $2.03 million, CoreLogic RP Data records show.
The new dealership would include a vehicle workshop for detailing, servicing and repair, a showroom, and an outdoor sales yard.
Brands sold and serviced by the dealership include Ford, Kia, Subaru, Nissan, and Ssangyong.
It will include 72 parking bays, including 33 for customers and 25 for staff.
The showroom is intended to run 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and potentially 8am to 5pm Saturday.
