The region’s insane property market may be slowing, but plenty of properties have easily cracked the million-dollar mark in Gympie in the past few months, including one stunner in the heart of the city that sold for almost $2 million.

A Queensland-wide slowdown in the property market has not been a major damper on the Gympie property market, with houses being snapped up for six figure sums in recent months, including one close to the CBD that recently sold for almost $2 million.
A former doctor’s surgery transformed into a stunning hilltop home in Amy St, and a 71ha Mary Valley farm were among a half-dozen properties to crack the million-dollar mark since November 2022, CoreLogic RP Data records reveal.
It is not the only online real estate hub highlighting the region’s continued growth.

The latest PropTrack data report shows the Wide Bay is still in the top 10 locations across Australia where more than one third (36 per cent) of houses were selling for above the asking price as of October 2022.

24 Amy St, Gympie, $1.75m
This home atop the highest point in the centre of Gympie hit the market for the first time following an extensive rebuild, and it did not stay there for long.
The property was sold in November 2022 for $1.75m after only 15 days on the market, RP data records show.
The building and site boasts a rich history, initially built for William Smyth, mayor of Gympie from 1883 to 1884, before becoming an active doctor’s surgery for decades.
30 Diamondfield Rd, Amamoor, $2.375m
This 71.1ha farm in the Mary Valley was on the open market from May 2021 before finally being snapped up in November, 2022.
The four-bedroom brick home situated behind the township of Amamoor (12km south of Gympie) has a range of modern conveniences supplemented by views across the property from all sides of the building.
101 Knobby Glen Rd, Kandanga, $1.55m
This 12ha farm was snapped up by its new owners for $1.55m within a day of being opened up to “present all offers”.
It had previously been owned by a family of horse trainers and breeders for 25 years, with four barns built on the property.
64 Newfarm Rd, Chatsworth, $1.15m
A five-bedroom, two bathroom home on 1.06ha north of Gympie was on the market for 28 days before being bought for $1.15m.
It was built in 2020 and has a media room, formal lounge and office.
37 Bligh St, Gympie, $1.02m
This central-Gympie home near St Patrick’s primary school and college has stunning views across the city and east of the Mary River, and was bought by its new owners after less than two months on the market.
The two-storey home sold for almost triple the $380,000 it was snagged for when last up for sale in 2018.
48 McNeil Rd, Cedar Pocket, $1.4m
This near-triangular block with a five-bedroom, two bathroom home was sold in November 2022 for $1.4m.
The custom-built house is within five minutes of the new Gympie Bypass, putting in an ideal place for the new owners to hop on the highway or head to the Cooloola Coast.
