Glenwood residents have come forward with similar stories of water left after a local woman’s 27,000 litre tank was drained, sparking a police investigation.
A Queensland Police spokesperson told the Gympie Times on Wednesday police were investigating the alleged theft of water from a Glenwood property on Sunday, after the woman discovered her tank mysteriously empty.

Since the investigation commenced, other residents have come forward saying the matter is not an uncommon occurrence.
Molly Mortimer said her elderly neighbours were subject to a similar theft last year, and even heard Bauple Rural Fire Brigade once had their water pilfered.
“So sad that this happens almost every dry season, some scummy person decides to steal water instead of buying like the rest of us have to,” she said.
Glenwood man Gary McGonnell said he once discovered his 18900 litre tank mysteriously empty after returning from holiday, with no sign of a leak.
Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said the issue extends further than just water theft after her 45 acre property suffered “a few thousand dollars worth of damage” from destroyed trees in the last few weeks.

“They come and cut down large trees and take the wood, not to mention all the vegetation and smaller trees that were destroyed,” she said.
She said her elderly neighbours saw a car and trees being cut on her property, but thought nothing of it.
“My land is untouched bush as I love the wildlife and this is like a sanctuary for them and the trees where all habitat trees,” she said.
She said she did not report the incident to police as it was impossible to catch the thieves, but was more watchful of any new vehicles.
A Queensland Police spokesperson said investigations into the alleged water theft are ongoing.
