Tourism continues to be a hot ticket at the Mary Valley with new plans unveiled to transform a private property not far from Kandanga into a nature-based campground and retreat.
Kenmore Hills-based developers Koninderie Pty Ltd have lodged an application with Gympie Regional Council to build six cabins at the 4.11ha block.
The block is close to the turn-off to the Mary Valley Rd, with entry proposed to be from Kandanga Imbil Rd.

The camp will include a kitchen, guest pavilion, natural water pool, and “edible gardens”, the application says.

The cabins will feature a covered carparking space, a king bed, kitchenette, bathroom, and fireplace.
If approved Koninderie have proposed opening the grounds up in two stages; the first would include the cabins, with the pavilion and other facilities following after.
It is the second tourism-based development proposed at Kandanga within the past two months.
In October private landowners Garry and Natalie Wheeler asked for permission to turn their private land into an 11-site campground capable of hosting 44 guests.
The block is within 200m of the regular home of the Mitchell Creek Rock n Blues Festival.
It brings the number of tourist park applications across the Gympie region since the start of 2021 to an even dozen as the industry continues to grow.
These include a proposed 360-site park at Amamoor, which is still awaiting a decision by the council, and two other smaller applications at Gunalda: one with 37 sites, and another with 25.
