Emergency services have rushed to a home close to a Gympie high school following reports of an “explosion” and smoke pouring from a drain pipe.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the incident, located in a residential area at the intersection of Centenary Close and Glen Eden Dr behind James Nash State School, was called in just before 8.30am.
The spokesman said no people had been found in the area and fire crews were working with Gympie Regional Council to check the drain pipes.
Fire and paramedic crews have left but police remain on scene.
