About a dozen fire crews worked to contain a vegetation fire near Gympie burning across 40 acres (16ha) of land overnight.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said fire crews arrived at 6.30pm Wednesday at Omeara Rd in Downsfield.
A grass fire burning along the road covered about 16ha and a smoke warning was issued at 7.30pm for the surrounding area.
Fire crews contained the blaze overnight and about 12 crews were on scene on Thursday morning to extinguish the contained fire.
The smoke warning is currently not active and there are no properties under threat, the spokeswoman said.
Gympie Mayor Glen Hartwig posted a video of the fire from afar to thank everyone involved for containing the fire.
“Without your intervention, it would have been a complete disaster,” he said in the post.
