Owners of a Queensland home, where a teen in school uniform defecated in the driveway, say the gross act follows a year-long campaign waged by wagging students.

A family living in a home at the centre of a social media storm after a Gympie high school student allegedly defecated on their driveway, has expressed “disbelief and disgust” at the act.

One of the homeowners, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the shocking Thursday incident was the latest in what has been a year of problems not only for her but also, neighbours, caused by students from nearby James Nash State High School.

“It started with rocks being thrown on roofs, and my BMW was damaged … we’re constantly ringing about wagging, smoking bongs,” she said.

“We’ve had a gutful.”

One discarded bong was visible in one of the street’s stormwater drains early Saturday afternoon.

“There’s a lot more incidents … we have footage of them smoking during school hours,” she said.

“It’s all happening during school times.”

“They smoke in our yard.”

The family has had to take its own actions, and at their own cost, in an effort to halt the behaviour.

“This year we installed cameras to stop the rocks … we’ve spent over $400 in security,” she said.

“It did stop for a month or two, but now it’s back again.”

They were home at the time the student, in full school uniform, allegedly chose to relieve himself on their driveway.

The mess was discovered by her husband when he returned home.

Another family member said the CCTV footage of the alleged incident was “like a comedy film”.

The teen was so focused on one camera at the front as he crept around, he overlooked those that captured the incident.

She challenged suggestions publicising the images amounted to bullying, saying the student’s age made him an adult.

After posting the footage on social media, she deleted it a half-hour later due to the backlash.

“It’s not just the student being bullied,” she said.

“We are copping it … we were home at the time and this is not stopping them.

“We have carers, we have public turning up … and now we’ve got the kids literally going past like the place is an amusement park.”

They family referred the latest gross incident to police, but this created its own discomfort as they tried to leave the evidence untouched.

“We left it there for 48 hours and put a bucket over it,” she said.

“I couldn’t go out there, the blowflies were making me sick.”

A Department of Education spokeswoman said Friday the department was aware of the incident.

“The school immediately applied appropriate consequences, in line with the school’s Student Code of Conduct,” she said.

“The incident is not representative of the school’s high standards of behaviour and academic excellence.

“The school will address students at an assembly to reinforce the standards of behaviour expected by the school.”

The family said if the student was desperate to use the toilet, they would have happily let him do so.

“We’re not angry, we’re just disgusted,” she said.

“It’s just gross.”
