East Deep Creek Rd grass fire causes driving hazard

A LARGE grass fire opposite Nolan Meats on East Deep Creek Rd has generated a huge volume of smoke this afternoon causing poor visibility in the area.

A LARGE grass fire opposite Nolan Meats on East Deep Creek Rd has generated a huge volume of smoke this afternoon causing poor visibility in the area.

Gympie fire fighters are warning drivers to pay attention when driving nearby, while the fire, which is now under control, is still supervised.

The fire, which was first reported at 2.38pm this afternoon, was heading towards power lines, threatened a structure and covered a distance of between five and ten acres.

Two urban fire trucks and one rural fire truck attended the scene, where they remain "blacking it out", though the fire poses no further threat.

No one has been hurt in the incident.
