Gympie Regional Council was being tight lipped this week on a development application lodged over six business locations on River Road.
The string of business addresses included in the DA for a “material change of use” are housed in a complex adjacent to the Gympie Central Shopping Centre, Aldi and McDonalds restaurant, currently including a Subway outlet and Tramcars Bakery.
A request for a material change of use indicates the developers would like to do something significantly different at that site, traditionally a favourite with fast food outlets and restaurants.
Other businesses that previously operated from the high-traffic complex at the intersection of the Bruce Highway (River Road), Hyne Street and Excelsior Road include Neptune’s seafood, a sushi bar, Johnny Dees, a Nepalese restaurant, Indian restaurant and a convenience store.
A council spokesman said that what was visible on the council portal was the only information the council had on the proposed development, which was lodged on Monday, April 4, 2022.
Cylinder Cove Pty Ltd has lodged the application over the six lots that occupy 115 River Road. Cylinder Cove is a registered Queensland private company and is the developer behind the 24-hour 7-Eleven and service station on Gympie’s Southside.
It is also the developer of a Beaudesert 7-Eleven and service station.
