Jobs, opening information: 7-Eleven is coming to Gympie
At long last a popular franchise is set to call Gympie home. Here's everything you need to know about the major development.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Gympie. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Exciting times are ahead for lovers of slurpees and Krispy Kreme doughnuts as Gympie is set to receive its very own 7-Eleven.
The store will be located at the Southside Store site at 48 Exhibition Rd and is expected to open by mid to late 2022.
The development application has been approved by the Gympie Regional Council, with plans to bulldoze the “outdated” Southside Store, that has been there for decades, and replace it with the new 24-hour service station.
Developer Cylinder Cove will rebuild the block into a multi-pump service station with a 212sq m shop, nine carparking spots and space for a queue of 17 cars.
“The existing service station and convenience store located on the site is not constructed to modern standards, including a refuelling area located within the Exhibition Rd road reserve and no dedicated carparking area,” they said in their application.
7-Eleven Retail Area Lead North, Alan Plews, said the investment in new stores, including Gympie and Maryborough, in the state in the past 18 months reflected the company’s commitment to Queensland.
“We’ve opened 14 stores in Queensland in the past 18 months, creating approximately 140 jobs and will continue to invest in our network over the next 12 months and beyond, including our first stores in Maryborough and Gympie,” Mr Plews said.
“We will be encouraging Maryborough and Gympie locals to apply to join our retail team in 2022.”
For those looking to start a retail career with the family-owned Australian retailer, experience in petrol and convenience isn’t a must to be considered.
“We provide training and development to set our people up for success one day one to empower them to build their careers with our business,” Mr Plews said.
Two of the crucial roles to be recruited will be for store leaders who can be trained and developed to lead the stores in Gympie and Maryborough.
While the recruitment process isn’t open for applications until next year, applicants are encouraged to contact the following email for a confidential discussion: pexstoreleader@7eleven.com.au.
Recruitment of team members is expected to start three months before the store opens.
