A GAS leak from a freight train is the cause of an evacuation at Curra this morning.
The area was blocked off at a 250m radius after a 'highly explosive' gas leaked from a 600m long freight and goods train, which was carrying containers of gas on the northern line.
The gas is a level 2 highly explosive gas.
Fire and Rescue officers are attending the area to leak the gas.
The evacuated area is on Steys Rd, off Harvey Siding Rd in a farming area.
It appears all nearby houses are outside the 250m exclusion zone. It is unsure how long it will take for the gas to dissipate.
