A Gympie home has been gutted by fire with clothes, kitchenware and burnt mattresses strewn across the front lawn.
Police have declared a crime scene at the scene of the “suspicious” fire on the intersection of Old Maryborough Road and Parsons Road.
Multiple emergency services were called to the blaze at about 1:10am.
Queensland Fire and Emergency crews quickly got to work, kitting up and heading inside the home to check for occupants.
“Two firefighters in breathing apparatus went in to attack the flames,” a QFES spokesman said.
According to QFES, the single level home was deemed vacant at 1:45am with fire fighting teams taking turns to fight the blaze inside the home.
Reports indicate the blaze was extinguished at roughly 2am with fire crews handing the scene over to police at 3am this morning.
According to the Queensland Police Service, the scene of the blaze has been declared “suspicious” with a crime scene declared.
A fire investigation unit and a police investigation unit are expected to attend the scene this morning.
The fire may have started in the garage of the building with a burnout car seen in the front of the building, along with tyres.
The fire scene on a busy intersection opposite a water tower was surrounded by police tape.
