GYMPIE Coles cash registers are running but the eftpos machines are still down.

The cash registers were down due to a technical glitch this morning.

A Coles spokeswoman said it was a result of a power surge.

"There was a town wide power surge that happened last night," she said.

"We had a glitch in the server which meant the registers were down."

Despite the registers reopening, eftpos machines are still down.

"We have a team working to have the eftpos machines working as soon as possible," she said.

"We just can't confirm when that will be."
